What information we collect
When you send a repair request, we collect the information you enter in the form:
- your name, phone number and, if you provide it, your email address
- your suburb and, if you choose one, your region
- the service you need, your TV brand and model, and a description of the problem
- your Problem Finder answers, if you used it
- how you prefer to be contacted.
The Problem Finder works in your browser and doesn’t ask for any personal information.
Like most websites, our web server also records technical information automatically, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit. These server logs are used for security and maintenance.
How we use your information
We use your information to:
- respond to your request and contact you by your preferred method
- understand the problem and suggest the right next step
- confirm availability at your address and explain the costs
- arrange the visit or repair, if you decide to go ahead
- keep a record of requests and the work done
- protect the website against spam and misuse.
We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t use it for marketing without your consent.
Why we may use it
We process your information with your consent, which you give by ticking the box on the request form, and because it’s needed to respond to your request and provide the service you ask for.
Who we share it with
If you decide to go ahead, we share the details needed for the job, such as your name, phone number, suburb and the problem, with the technician who will help you.
We also use service providers to run the website and send email, such as our website host and email provider. They may only use your information to provide their services to us.
We may also disclose information when the law requires it.
Where your information is stored
Repair requests are stored in our website’s database on our hosting provider’s servers, and a copy is sent to us by email. Location of the hosting and email servers: [to be confirmed].
If personal information is transferred outside South Africa, we will only do so as POPIA allows.
How long we keep it
We keep your information only for as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy, including any legal, tax or accounting requirements. Retention period: [to be confirmed]. After that, we delete it.
How we protect it
The website uses an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. Repair requests can only be viewed by authorised people who log in to the website, and the request form includes protection against automated spam.
